Edward Emery Huelsmann

Edward Emery Huelsmann, 87, died Sunday, April 11, 2004 at the New Harmony Health Care Center in New Harmon, Indiana.
Ed was born December 9, 1916 in Du Quoin, the son of Anton I. and Clara (Kreher) Huelsmann.  He graduated from Du Quoin High School and was in the U.S. Marine Corps until November 24, 1945.  A long time resident of Carmi, he was employed by Gallagher Drilling Co. and Reed Roller Bit.  He managed the VFW Post 3851 and was a 50-year member of Carmi PBOE Lodge 1652 in Carmi.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Charles.  Surviving are two brothers, Ray of Crossville and Gene of Du Quoin; nieces and nephews, Suzanne Huelsmann of San Diego, Calif., David Huelsmann of Loxahatchee, Fla., Edward Huelsmann of Lake Moore,  Ann Grimm of Mundelein, Kathy Starks of Greenwood, Indiana and Sharon Endicott of St. Louis, Mo.
He enjoyed golf, the Carmi Library and his great nieces and nephews, Sandi, Mike, Steven, Gregory, Nathaniel, Madeline and Greyson.
A graveside service was held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Du Quoin with Msgr. Harry Jerome officiating.
Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Cemetery Fund.
Maxton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
